FAQ

AGES SERVED: Licensed for ages 5 to 17–18 year olds can stay to complete the program.

BOARD MEMBERS: We have 18 volunteer board members from across the state.

BUDGET: Our annual budget is approximately $1.9M.

CAMPUS: A beautiful 89 acre campus on the outskirts of Wytheville, VA.

CAPACITY: We have the capacity for 30 residents (20 boys and 10 girls).

COTTAGES: We have 3 cottages and hope to expand our program in the future.

FUNDING SOURCES: Agencies, churches, individuals, foundations and estates.

LENGTH OF STAY: Most long term placements stay at least one full academic year. We expect our educational program will increase the length of stay for children who are successful.

NUMBER CHILDREN: We serve approximately 70 to 90 residents per year.

OCCUPANCY RATE: During 2007, we had an 83.8% daily capacity rate.

PROGRAMS: Take children for both emergency and long term placements.

SCHOOLING: On campus educational program serves up to 60 students, including day students from the community with the goal of returning each student to public school. A GED Program serves students when appropriate.

SERVICE AREA: Our main service area is the 19 county area west of Roanoke, VA.

SOURCES: All of our children are involved with the Department of Social Services or Court Services and cannot live with their biological families. STAFF: We have 29 full time and 9 part time employees --- all of our staff members have direct contact with the children.

SUCCESSES: We claim success for each and every child in our care. No matter what the next step is for the young person, while with us they experience the love of Christ in tangible ways that make a difference in their lives.

TYPES OF PROBLEMS: All of our residents have been victims of some type of abuse and/or neglect.
